Thanks, Scott. This is a great approach if the frame contains only the multi-style listing, allowing the looping Paragraph Styles to repeat themselves in order from the first paragraph to the last. In my particular case, the listing is split into sub-sections with irregular crossheads: I need to be able to select the text in one section and apply the Paragraph Style and Next Style just to that selected text.

Additionally, add Next Style to an Object Style and let the text frame do the formatting for you.

Follow the instructions above. Then create a new Object Style (CS2, CS3). Select Paragraph Styles as part of the Object Style. Select the first style as your Paragraph Style in the drop-down menu (in this case it's listings head). Check the Apply Next Style box.

Now, apply the the Object Style to the text box and the styles will follow the loop without having to ctrl-click > apply listings head then next style.

I was goofing about with other transparency settings, and I noticed that the "Screen" setting allows for the type to be any color you select. This will tint the objects you are masking. I found this with some Illustrator objects dropped in behind the text box.

I just learnt that Adobe Acrobat reader 9 is announced along with Acrobat.com.
I visited Acrobat.com. Contains great features. But i got somewhat confused. But i got detailed information about it later here - <a href="http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=979534" rel="nofollow">Adobe introduces Acrobat 9 & Acrobat.com</a>
It also contains detailed and fabulous review of Acrobat 9 and Acrobat.com which was a lot helpful.

Off the top of my head, Nessa, you could try colouring the text as 'Registration' and placing it BEHIND the image, then applying a Color Dodge transparency effect to the image. I suspect this wouldn't print out very well (putting text or strokes behind a transparency effect is nearly always problematic in my experience) but do give it a try.

I was wondering if you knew how I can get text that is half on a image to be one color the other half (off image) another color. Example- I have a black photo and want the half of text on image be white and the other half of the text which is hanging off the image be black. Any solutions? I'm working in Indesign.

Thanks!!!

Actually, it will go on sale October 1st, not September 10th. There have been numerous articles, including but not limited to:
<a href="http://www.macworld.com/weblogs/creative/2007/09/pantone-goe-system/index.php" rel="nofollow">Macworld review</a>
and
<a href="http://www.creativepro.com/story/feature/25871.html" rel="nofollow">Creative Pro review</a>.

This is a huge deal for designers and printers. I don't buy into the so-called hype, but it is a nice system. I think it's going to be 5 years or more before it starts to settle in as a regularly accepted tool for designers to use though. People don't change overnight... and software RIPS update even slower.

I looked at the study, and became so annoyed at the obvious author bias that I dismissed it without careful examination. You are much more patient person than I. ;-)

I must have been half-asleep when I wrote my post, Greg. Sorry about that. I meant, of course, Ctrl-Alt-Tab, not Alt-Shift-Tab. On the Mac, it's Command-Alt-Tab. I have edited the post above with the correct keyboard combination. Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

When I type alt-shift-tab, it switches programs (a la alt-tab). Adding the shift doesn't seem to change that behavior for me, other than now cycling through programs in the reverse order.

Or is this a mac shortcut that doesn't work on the PC?
