Please excuse me for not joining the media rush to tell you all about Pantone’s new ‘Goe’ spot-colour library. All I’ve seen is a press release, a lot of hype, and a so-called white paper that reads like PR puff. If you search for Goe on the Pantone UK website, you get no results, which doesn’t bode well. The product will launch on Monday 10 September, and hopefully some real information will emerge next week. Apologies for the cynicism.

Actually, it will go on sale October 1st, not September 10th. There have been numerous articles, including but not limited to:
Macworld review
and
Creative Pro review.
This is a huge deal for designers and printers. I don’t buy into the so-called hype, but it is a nice system. I think it’s going to be 5 years or more before it starts to settle in as a regularly accepted tool for designers to use though. People don’t change overnight… and software RIPS update even slower.
How long did you get to play with the system before you wrote the Macworld review, Jim?
